Ch Ch Ch Changes

So where have thing gone since last year? I haven't lost any more friends and family. I'm still at the same employer, albeit doing a diferent job at the moment. Some of my colleagues make my job "interesting" to say the least. I've done a load of work on my mancave and the associated earth works but I still need to get a window in to finish things. Usual ramble, I'll keep the world updated with what's going on!

Pontificating...

I haven't used this blog for a while. There always seemed something else to do. Most comments nowadays end up as a status update of Facebook. I thought I'd use this space to unload parts of my brain safe in the knowledge that hardly anyone is likely to read it. It's been a funny year this year. It started with so much promise. I turned 40 in February, we decided to take a proper holiday this year to the Lake District and Mum and Dad were going to come with us. But it all went wrong. I've attended seven funerals this year. Seven. Friends and Family. Not great. My Godfather and Uncle was first in January. Sad but not a surprise. A family friend was next in June. Again, sad but not a surprise. Dad passed in August. Horrible. Unexpected, very sudden, a massive hole left in our lives. Raw. A school friend in September. Plane crash. Close family and friends were devastated. A close work colleague collapsed and died two days after. Utter shock. Another work colleague in November. A family friend also in November. This year sucks.

Holiday

So I've been on holiday from work for the last 2 1/2 weeks. We've had a week away, I've spent a few days in the garden sorting out the boy's play area but I return to work next tuesday, it's not finished and the tonne of rubber chippings that was supposed to be delivered today now won't be here till Monday.

Oh dear.

I didn't really want to be moving that the day before I return to work. Oh well!

Olympics

The Wife, the Boy and I went shopping at Westfield Stratford City on Tuesday. It was the first opportunity I had to get really close to the Olympic Park. Now, I've been interested in the Olympics since we won it but I was never really bothered about going - I certainly wasn't interested in doing Transport there. Now though, since I've been close and also seen a quite a few athletes as well, I must admit I'm disappointed about not going.

Anyone got two free tickets going? :)

Time just don't stand still...

Life is going far too fast. I bumped into a friend todaywho I hadn't seen for a while - turns out it was 4 1/2 years!
